About The Position

As a Data Platform Engineer, you will be responsible for the development and continuous improvement of modern cloud platforms for Data & AI. Together with our team and clients, you will develop platforms that can be operated scalably, securely, and sustainably. You will combine cloud infrastructure, platform architecture, and modern Data & AI technologies into solutions that create a stable foundation for analytics, data engineering, and AI use cases. In detail, you will:
- Conceptualize, build, and continuously develop cloud-based Data & AI platforms.
- Develop and technically implement platform strategies and target architectures with our clients.
- Design scalable and robust platform architectures that serve as the foundation for data-driven solutions.
- Automate the deployment of modern cloud infrastructures on Azure or AWS using Infrastructure as Code, working particularly with Terraform or OpenTofu and modern CI/CD processes.
- Design and develop Databricks platforms concerning workspaces, compute, networking, identity, security, and governance.
- Make architectural decisions and establish best practices for performance, security, governance, scalability, and costs.
- Develop reusable platform blueprints, standards, and automations.
- Evaluate new technologies and platform components and integrate them meaningfully into existing architectures.
- Support Data, Analytics, and AI teams through stable and high-performance platforms.
- Contribute to technical concepts, architecture workshops, and the further development of our standards within our team.

Requirements

• Structured work approach, thinking in platforms and architectures, and implementing technical solutions cleanly and sustainably.
• Solid experience in building modern cloud infrastructures and platform architectures.
• Very good knowledge of at least one cloud platform, ideally Microsoft Azure or AWS.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code, e.g., Terraform, OpenTofu, Bicep, or comparable technologies.
• Good understanding of scalable, secure, and maintainable system and platform architectures.
• Experience with technologies from the Data & AI environment, especially Databricks.
• Knowledge in areas such as Cloud Networking, Identity & Access Management, Security, and Governance.
• Basic knowledge in software development, e.g., with Python, as well as in handling APIs and automation.
• Experience with Git and CI/CD.
• Good understanding of the requirements that Data, Analytics, ML, and AI workloads place on a modern platform.
• Completed degree in Computer Science, Business Informatics, or a comparable qualification.
• Ability to quickly learn and apply new technologies.
• Structured, self-reliant, and solution-oriented way of working.
• Very good German language skills (C2) and good English language skills.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with Databricks Unity Catalog and governance concepts.
• Experience with Azure Private Link, VNet Integration, or comparable AWS networking concepts.
• Knowledge in Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or comparable CI/CD solutions.
• Experience with Microsoft Fabric, Azure Data Factory, or other data platform technologies.
• Experience with Landing Zones, platform blueprints, or standardized cloud deployments.
• Experience in customer projects and technical architecture workshops.
• Certifications in the area of Databricks, Azure, or AWS.
