About The Position
Carnegie Mellon University is seeking an AI Enablement Consultant to join Computing Services. This role will partner with faculty, staff, and students to help them leverage AI tools for increased productivity. The consultant will work across the university to identify opportunities for AI implementation, providing training, consultation, and hands-on support. The position focuses on translating AI possibilities into practical applications and helping individuals understand and utilize these tools effectively.
Requirements
- Progressive experience in product or service delivery, ideally in a university or technical environment.
- Experience supporting AI tool rollouts, adoption efforts, or platform integrations.
- Understanding that technology's value is realized through user adoption.
- Natural communicator skilled in meeting people where they are and building confidence in solutions.
- Ability to translate technical capabilities into business value.
- Comfort facilitating discovery conversations to identify real needs.
- Foundational understanding of IT service management (ITIL or similar).
- Experience gathering business requirements.
- A bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
Nice To Haves
- Certifications in cloud/AI platforms.
- Certifications in process improvement methodologies.
Responsibilities
- Work as part of the AI Enablement Team to shape and communicate the vision for AI services across the university.
- Lead discovery sessions to identify areas where AI can provide assistance.
- Discover and evaluate new AI tools.
- Document workflows and requirements for AI tool adoption.
- Guide teams through the process of adopting AI tools.
- Become the go-to expert on available AI tools for the university community.
- Develop training programs, run workshops, and host office hours.
- Mentor colleagues who want to enhance their AI skills.
- Assist users in overcoming technical challenges and finding paths forward with AI.
- Build infrastructure for sustainable AI adoption, including documentation, toolkits, communications, feedback loops, and metrics.
- Stay informed about the broader AI landscape and bring back insights for improvement.
