About The Position

Toloka AI is seeking a Freelance AI Data Project Manager to join its Delivery team and build, drive, and maintain client solutions. The role leads a virtual, cross-functional team through successful project implementation, combining client communication with internal coordination. The team includes engineers, supply managers, and other departments as needed. The position is central to delivering a strong client experience and supporting business growth.

Example projects include supervised fine-tuning data-generation pipelines producing thousands of prompts and completions weekly across multiple languages and knowledge domains; evaluation pipelines that assess LLM response quality at a throughput of hundreds of thousands weekly; and red-teaming projects that collect different kinds of malicious prompts to help ensure model safety.

Requirements

• Experience leading technical cross-functional teams.
• Experience managing complex projects, including discovery, decomposition, scope planning, implementation, and adoption.
• Client-facing experience.
• Ability to adapt and switch quickly to new domains and subjects.
• Good understanding of LLMs and their life cycle.
• Experience in data generation.
• Proven experience in the AI space, including working with clients and managing teams or projects at scale.

Responsibilities

• Take ultimate ownership of delivery team projects, including data quality, delivery timelines, unit economics, and transparency for stakeholders.
• Lead a cross-functional delivery team, keeping projects on track and proactively highlighting and resolving issues and risks.
• Manage delivery team operations, including internal and external communication, activity planning, status updates and summaries, and retrospectives.
• Drive and motivate the team, identifying changes that can improve organizational efficiency.
• Help roll out improvements to the delivery team, focusing on adoption and providing feedback for further improvements.
