About The Position

RWS is seeking AI Conversation Recording Contributors for a Zulu speech data collection project supporting the evaluation and development of AI technologies. Contributors will provide spontaneous speech from real-life situations, complete speech and conversation tasks, and annotate recordings and related metadata according to project guidelines. The recordings and associated data may be reviewed for quality and used in research, development, testing, and improvement of AI systems.

This is flexible, task-based freelance work performed remotely, approximately 2–4 hours daily. The project duration is to be confirmed, and the stated rate is 8 USD per hour. The start date is immediate.

Requirements

• Native-level fluency in Zulu.
• Authentic pronunciation and strong familiarity with Zulu through everyday use.
• Advanced level of English to understand written instructions.
• Do not imitate dialects or accents that are not your own.
• Strong attention to detail when providing annotations and recording metadata.
• Ability to follow detailed project and recording instructions.
• Access to a quiet room or recording space with minimal background noise.
• Computer microphone or headset with microphone.
• Reliable internet connection.
• Ability to access and use an online recording platform.

• Experience with speech recording or data annotation projects.

Responsibilities

• Record or collect natural, spontaneous speech in accordance with project guidelines.
• Participate in or capture speech from approved real-life situations, such as workplace conversations or casual one-on-one discussions.
• Complete individual or two-person conversational speech tasks, or participate in voice or voice-text interactions with an AI or machine-based system.
• Annotate collected speech data according to the instructions provided.
• Provide required information and metadata related to each recording.
