About The Position

Camp Fire First Texas is seeking a passionate individual to join their team as an Afterschool Program Specialist. This entry-level, part-time, temporary position involves working in person to provide out-of-school time programming for children and youth. The role focuses on implementing curriculum, ensuring a safe and nurturing environment, and interacting positively with youth and families. Camp Fire First Texas is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to investing in North Texas communities through various youth and workforce development programs, with a vision of equitable access to learning opportunities for all children.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma
  • At least 18 years of age
  • Ability to work with a diverse group of youth and adults
  • Have and maintain reliable transportation
  • Excellent organizational, customer service, and communication skills
  • High moral character and integrity
  • Must be able to pass criminal background check
  • Ability to stand for long periods, bend, and lift up to 40 pounds.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with youth
  • CDA, AA or Bachelors Degree in child development, education, or a related field
  • Knowledge of state and local requirements for child care centers
  • Bilingual preferred (Spanish)

Responsibilities

  • Implement curriculum with youth.
  • Provide a warm, nurturing, fun and safe environment for youth.
  • Interact with youth and families daily in a positive and professional manner.
  • Attend all meetings and functions required by the position.
  • Plan and coordinate with the Site Director to implement daily lesson plans based on the curriculum outline.
  • Supervise and participate in group activities.
  • Use and promote positive guidance.
  • Maintain a safe and healthy environment by adhering to Camp Fire and Licensing standards.
  • Communicate with Site Director all incidents and/or behavior issues in a timely manner.
  • Ensure proper use of program supplies and equipment to minimize waste.
  • Assist in program events such as Field Trips, school activities, and Open Houses as needed.
  • Report any concerns to supervisor immediately.
  • Attend required training and staff meetings.
  • Read and respond to email correspondence from Site Director, Program Director, or other Camp Fire personnel.
  • Maintain positive, professional relationships with co-workers, school faculty, and families.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to families.
  • Maintain high enrollment by providing excellent programming.
  • Promote Camp Fire programs within the community.
  • Represent Camp Fire in a positive manner.
  • Maintain a clean and safe program area.
  • Report all maintenance and repair needs to the Site Director.
  • Attend Camp Fire General Staff Meetings.
  • Communicate regularly with supervisor about unusual events, special needs, participant concerns and suggestions.
  • Be able to communicate program purposes and goals in the community.
  • Support and implement Council goals as assigned.
