Part Time Afterschool Nanny (Autism Spectrum & Sensory Needs Experience Required) – Placentia, CA
About The Position
A welcoming family in Placentia, California, is seeking a patient, dependable, and engaging afterschool nanny for a young child with sensory sensitivities associated with autism spectrum disorder. The caregiver should bring a calming yet playful presence, patience, and a kind sense of humor. The child enjoys cooking, arts and crafts, games, movies, music, and reading. The home is smoke-free and has one pet turtle. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM, with 25 guaranteed hours per week. Flexibility for occasional full-day coverage during school holidays or sick days is requested. Pay is $20–$22 per hour, depending on experience, and a mileage stipend is provided. This is a private, family-hired position; the caregiver is hired directly by the family and is not employed by Wellthy. Candidates will be subject to a background check and must provide proof of legal authorization to work in the United States. The family is an equal opportunity employer.
Requirements
- Demonstrable experience supporting children on the autism spectrum or with sensory processing needs.
- Valid driver's license, clean driving record, and reliable personal vehicle for transportation.
- Willingness to register with the family's contracted Regional Center of Orange County (RCOC) agency to facilitate benefit funding.
- Proof of legal authorization to work in the United States.
- Successful completion of a background check.
Nice To Haves
- Familiarity or background with Speech-Language Pathology (SLP), Occupational Therapy (OT), or Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapeutic approaches.
Responsibilities
- Provide afterschool care and engage the child in enriching activities, games, arts and crafts, and reading.
- Assist with personal care routines, including dressing, bathing, and ongoing potty training support.
- Support sensory needs and routines associated with autism spectrum disorder and sensitive skin or eczema.
- Plan and prepare meals and snacks, and assist with feeding.
- Provide safe transportation to and from school, activities, and medical appointments.
- Accompany the child to scheduled activities and community outings.
