About The Position

Inspire Girls To Take On The World's Greatest Challenges! Girlstart is seeking After School Program Leaders (called STEM CREW --Creative, Resourceful, Empowered Workforce) to lead our hands-on, STEM-focused After School programs across the Boston, MA area (in Waltham, Woburn, and Somerville). A car is NOT required for this position; if you do not have your own car, Girlstart will cover the cost of transportation. Our After School programs meet once a week for an hour (programs vary from 1-1.5 hours) immediately after the school day. The purpose of our After School program is to provide 20-25 students with a fun STEM enrichment program that builds confidence and encourages them to pursue paths to higher education and to discover greater career opportunities. Girlstart is designed to build students' skills in collaboration, creative problem-solving, and critical thinking.

Requirements

• Experience working with kids preferred.
• Desire to empower and educate girls in STEM.
• Reliable transportation (or valid driver's license for at least 1 year), driving to and from respective programs is required for the position.
• Comfortable presenting to a group of girls.
• Proficient using Google Drive apps.
• Strong time management skills.
• All majors welcome (STEM background not required).

Responsibilities

• Lead hands-on, STEM-focused After School programs.
• Provide students with a fun STEM enrichment program that builds confidence.
• Encourage students to pursue paths to higher education and discover greater career opportunities.
• Build students' skills in collaboration, creative problem-solving, and critical thinking.
• Deliver fun, informal STEM programs with small groups of students.
• Practice the lesson of the week, organize materials, and ask questions about the activity and/or room management.
• Attend mandatory on-going training.
