About The Position

The After School Programming Support Staff will assist in the after-school program by answering questions, providing reteaching of information, and actively participating in daily instruction. This role involves initiating and encouraging student participation, maintaining positive relationships with students and staff, and seeking guidance when needed. The staff member will monitor students in assigned areas, support positive behavior management, and utilize de-escalation strategies. Responsibilities also include arriving and departing on time, working with small groups on skill-building, and performing specialized duties such as taking attendance and tracking program times. This is an hourly position with a specific term from September 8, 2026, to April 29, 2027, operating Tuesdays through Thursdays, with specific hours determined by the coordinator. An orientation meeting is scheduled prior to the program startup.

Requirements

  • Associate’s Degree or 60 hours of college credit required.
  • Experience working in a school setting.
  • Internal applicants only.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Prior experience working for USD 116 Afterschool Program is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Answer questions and provide a reteach of information to students participating in the program.
  • Actively participate in the program, contribute to daily instruction, and complete all assigned tasks.
  • Initiate and encourage students attending the program.
  • Maintain a positive relationship with the students and staff working in the program.
  • Ask for guidance and assistance from the teacher and/or coordinator when unable to assist a student.
  • Monitor and supervise the students within assigned areas of the school.
  • Support positive approaches for dealing with student behavior.
  • Utilize de-escalation strategies when needed.
  • Arrive and depart on time for your scheduled work.
  • Work with small groups on skill-building activities.
  • Perform other specialized duties as assigned (i.e. taking attendance, snack counts, program arrival and departure times).
