About The Position

The Program Support Specialist will work in conjunction with the Program Support Specialist Team and the Director of Programs to develop and facilitate training modules, provide program improvement support, and ensure quality standards are embedded at each site. This role involves constant communication with the Director of Programs regarding site strengths, weaknesses, and updates, as well as developing and updating a resource library of activity lesson plans. The specialist will provide comprehensive program support to ASAS-LA sites and staff, maintain positive communication with the program management team, and collaborate with staff to embed the ASAS-LA Mission and Values into daily practices. Under the directive of the Director of Programs, the specialist will observe programs, assess site needs, monitor progress, identify external resources, and provide programmatic interventions. They will promote quality and staff excellence through coaching and mentoring, guide staff in best practices, and provide learning opportunities and workshops on positive youth development and social-emotional learning. The role also includes creating research-based training modules, traveling to off-site meetings and events, and being available to work evenings and weekends as needed. Requirements

  • Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with School District staff, public officials, private sector officials, parents and community leaders
  • Familiarity with quality criteria for after school programs, including the common elements of program as identified by ASAS-LA
  • Strong familiarity with After-School Education and Safety (ASES) and 21st Century Grant Requirements
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to meet deadlines
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Child Development, Non-Profit Management, or related field highly preferred
  • Minimum of five years of experience working in the after-school field in a supervisory capacity and program implementation highly preferred
  • Current or past CPR and First Aid Certifications highly desirable
  • Fluency in a language other than English highly desirable

Responsibilities

  • Constant communication with Director of Programs regarding site strengths, weaknesses, and updates related to site program
  • Developing and periodically updating a resource library of activity lesson plans accessible to staff
  • Providing comprehensive program support to ASAS-LA sites and staff as assigned on a weekly basis
  • Maintaining positive and open communication with program management team through weekly meetings and periodic assessments
  • Collaborating with Program Coordinator and site staff to embed ASAS-LA Mission and Values into the daily implementation practices at each site to meet program goals as assigned
  • Observing program, assessing site needs, and monitoring progress through the use of a programmatic plan involving Program Coordinators, Program Support Specialists, and Operations & Grant Managers
  • Identifying external resources to improve program quality
  • Providing programmatic interventions based on site needs
  • Promoting quality and staff excellence in assigned schools across organization through coaching and mentoring as needed
  • Guiding staff in best practices around successful program implementation through planning and goal setting as needed
  • Providing learning opportunities and workshops for staff to understand student connections through the use of positive youth development and social emotional learning
  • Creating research-based training modules that align with the ASAS-LA Mission and Values
  • Travel to off-site meetings, chapter meetings, trainings, and events as needed
  • Availability to work evenings and weekends as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned
