About The Position

BLOC Ministries is an inner-city ministry serving underserved communities through relationship-based programs and practical support. With approximately 80 staff members, its programs include after-school services, job training, recovery homes, and other community ministries. The After School Mentor supports a small group of students by creating a safe, encouraging environment where they feel seen and supported. The mentor escorts students to and from programs, engages them in meaningful activities, builds caring relationships, and partners with families and staff to support students’ academic, social, emotional, and spiritual growth. The role uses trauma-informed care, de-escalation, conflict resolution, and positive behavior modeling. The position is onsite at IDEA School Project from 3:15 PM to 6:15 PM, three days a week (Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday). The mentor may also be asked to attend additional school events to interact with students and parents. The ideal candidate has a growing relationship with Jesus Christ, supports BLOC Ministries’ mission and values, and leads with integrity, humility, compassion, and consistency.
