About The Position

A High Dosage Tutor provides reading and math tutoring and instructional support to elementary- and middle-school-aged students. Tutors help students master grade-level academic standards through small-group instruction, working with groups of up to three students per tutor. This seasonal, part-time position is scheduled for 2 to 3.5 hours per day during after-school hours, five days a week. Hours are determined by the school district, and schedules may change based on Think Together’s needs.

Requirements

• High school graduation or GED; proof required.
• At least 48 college semester units or 60 college quarter units, or passing a pre-employment test.
• Ability to inspire and motivate students.

Responsibilities

• Provide small-group and individual interventions to help students master instructional materials.
• Engage students by following and implementing the intervention curriculum.
• Read to students, listen to students read, and participate in oral communication with them.
• Score student assessments accurately and monitor student progress.
• Assist school staff in developing strategies to reinforce material based on individual students’ needs, interests, and abilities.
• Alert the Student and Family Literacy Coordinator to concerns or relevant information about individual students.
• Maintain ethical conduct and confidentiality regarding student information.
• Participate in assigned in-service training sessions.
• Operate and care for equipment and instructional materials.
• Keep daily attendance records for individual students.
• Complete paperwork accurately and on time.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Arrive punctually for site start-up and assigned responsibilities.
• Maintain close communication with the Program Analyst regarding planned or emergency absences.
• Serve as a positive role model through appropriate dress, speech, attitude, and courtesy.
• Help maintain the site according to Think Together standards.
• Comply with organization and site policies and procedures.
