About The Position

EDMO runs after-school and summer programs focused on hands-on STEAM, social-emotional learning (SEL), and building friendships. The After School Instructor leads activities that encourage children to build, create, and work together, and helps maintain a safe, clean, well-organized environment. The role is part-time, up to 25 hours per week, with hours that can fit around school or another job. Pay is $20.00 to $22.00 per hour. No formal childcare job experience is required.

Requirements

• Be at least 18 years old.
• Have a high school diploma or GED.
• Pass the Instructional Assistant exam, or have an AA, BA, or 48 college units to waive the exam.
• Complete Livescan fingerprinting and have a negative TB test.
• Be able to stand, walk, and stay actively engaged with children indoors and outdoors.
• Be able to lift up to 50 pounds.

Nice To Haves

• Experience spending time with children in any setting, such as a job, babysitting, tutoring, coaching, camp, or with one's own family.
• Ability to hold a group's attention and gently redirect children.
• Creativity, patience, and a positive attitude.
• Knowledge of SEL and STEAM, or enthusiasm for learning about them.
• Reliability.

Responsibilities

• Lead STEAM and SEL activities that encourage children to build, create, and work together.
• Manage the room patiently and redirect children with care.
• Communicate with parents and share updates about their child's day.
• Maintain attendance records and manage supplies.
• Maintain a safe and clean space.
• Bring ideas, attend training with an open mind, and respond well to feedback.
• Handle other tasks needed during the program day.
