After School Instructor
About The Position
EDMO is hiring an After School Instructor to lead after-school STEAM and social-emotional learning (SEL) activities for children. The instructor helps kids build, create, collaborate, and work through challenges while maintaining a safe, clean, and well-managed environment. The role also includes communicating with parents about their children’s day, managing attendance and supplies, participating in training, sharing ideas, and responding to the needs of the day. This is a part-time position of up to 25 hours per week, with hours that can work around school or another job. No formal childcare job experience or resume is required. Applicants complete a short application and four video questions on their own time; no interview scheduling is required. The listed pay is $20.00 to $24.00 per hour.
Requirements
- Be at least 18 years old.
- Have a high school diploma or GED.
- Have passed the Instructional Assistant exam, or hold an AA, BA, or 48 college units, which waives the exam.
- Complete Livescan fingerprinting and have a negative TB test.
- Be able to stand, walk, and remain actively engaged with children indoors and outdoors, including lifting up to 50 pounds.
- Be reliable and show up as committed.
Nice To Haves
- Experience with children in any setting, such as a job, babysitting, tutoring, coaching, camp, or family responsibilities.
- Ability to hold a group’s attention and gently redirect them.
- Creativity, patience, and a positive attitude.
- Knowledge of SEL and STEAM, or enthusiasm for learning about them.
Responsibilities

- Manage the room patiently and redirect children with care.
- Communicate with parents and share updates about their child’s day.
- Manage attendance and supplies, and maintain a safe and clean space.
- Bring ideas, attend training with an open mind, and respond well to feedback.
- Help with other tasks as needed during the day.
