About The Position

BrightBee is seeking After-School Instructors to support students at YMCA partner sites. Instructors lead engaging activities, assist students with homework and tutoring, supervise students throughout the program, and help with daily operations. Assignments and available sites will be discussed during the interview. The role is described as an independent contractor engagement, and candidates are responsible for costs associated with required clearances. BrightBee guides candidates through the onboarding and clearance process.

Requirements

• Have at least 48 college credits.
• Be able to work five days a week, Monday through Friday, from 1:45 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
• Pass a background check and required school clearances, including any required Live Scan or other testing.
• Follow safety, code-of-conduct, mandated reporter, and reporting requirements.
• Provide authorization to contact former employers if required.
• Be able to lift up to 30 pounds and stand for extended periods if required by an assignment.

• Interest in building experience in education.

Responsibilities

• Design and lead group activities, including physical education, team-building games, creative arts, and STEM projects.
• Keep students engaged, encourage participation, and adapt activities to different age groups and energy levels.
• Provide homework assistance and small-group tutoring, helping students understand core concepts, practice study skills, and complete assignments.
• Supervise students during transitions, snack time, and recreational periods.
• Use positive behavior management strategies and follow program safety protocols and check-out procedures.
• Support daily operations by taking attendance, preparing activity materials, and maintaining a clean environment.
• Communicate brief, professional updates to parents during pick-up about student progress or behavior.
