After School Instructor
About The Position
EDMO is hiring an After School Instructor to lead hands-on STEAM and social-emotional learning (SEL) activities for children. The role involves creating an engaging, safe, and supportive environment where kids build, create, and work through challenges together. Instructors manage the room with patience, redirect children with care, communicate with parents about their children’s day, and maintain attendance, supplies, and a clean space. They also contribute ideas, attend training, and respond to feedback. The position is part-time, up to 25 hours per week, with hours that can work around school or another job. No formal childcare job experience or resume is required.
Requirements
- Be at least 18 years old.
- Have a high school diploma or GED.
- Have passed the Instructional Assistant exam, or hold an AA, BA, or 48 college units to waive the exam.
- Complete Livescan fingerprinting and have a negative TB test.
- Be able to stand, walk, and stay actively engaged with children indoors and outdoors, including lifting up to 50 pounds.
- Have experience spending time with children in any setting; formal childcare job experience is not required.
- Be able to hold a group’s attention and gently redirect it.
- Be creative, patient, positive, and reliable.

- Knowledge of SEL and STEAM, or enthusiasm for learning about them.
