After Care Educator: Gan Shalom Nursery School
About The Position
Gan Shalom Nursery School is seeking reliable After Care Educators to supervise and engage children aged 2-5 during the afternoon program, from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday. The program focuses on providing a safe, engaging, and predictable end to the school day, including snack, enrichment activities, play, and smooth transitions to pickup. This role is ideal for college students, education majors, high school seniors (18+), aspiring educators, or experienced childcare professionals seeking consistent afternoon hours. While a formal education degree is not required, dependability, attentiveness, safety-consciousness, and active engagement with young children are essential.
Requirements
- Must be 18 years or older
- Reliable, punctual, and able to commit to a consistent weekly schedule
- Comfortable helping with toileting and diapering when assigned to younger children
- Warm, patient, and attentive with young children
- Able to follow supervision and safety expectations
Nice To Haves
- Prior experience in childcare, camp, babysitting, education, or youth programming is helpful but not required
Responsibilities
- Supervise children closely and maintain name-to-face awareness during transitions, play, snack, and pickup
- Support a consistent age-group team, such as younger children ages 2–3 or older preschool children
- Assist with snack, handwashing, bathroom routines, diaper changes, and potty support
- Actively participate with children during enrichment vendors, games, outdoor play, and free play
- Help children move safely between spaces and maintain calm, organized transitions
- Communicate professionally with staff and families at pickup
- Follow school safety, supervision, and childcare procedures
- Keep phones away during work time except for school-related communication or emergencies
