Affiliate Instructor, Environmental Engineering
About The Position
The Department of Engineering and Engineering Technology at Metropolitan State University of Denver (MSU Denver) invites applications for part-time affiliate faculty teaching positions. This is an applicant pool for affiliate faculty, and screening will occur when positions become available. These are temporary, part-time, non-tenure track academic positions that vary from semester to semester based on program needs. Not all applicants will be contacted or selected to teach. The department offers undergraduate degrees designed to ignite curiosity and empower careers, with programs in Environmental Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering Technology, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Construction Project Management. Environmental Engineering students focus on critical challenges like water purification and waste management. The department emphasizes strong math, science, analysis, and problem-solving skills to prepare students for impactful careers.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering or related field
- Four years of relevant experience
Nice To Haves
- Master’s degree in Environmental Engineering or Engineering related field, plus four years of relevant experience
- Doctorate
- Professional Engineering License
Responsibilities
- Teach assigned classes in person or online by delivering course content to students.
- Prepare course materials and lesson plans.
- Grade student work and provide robust feedback in a timely manner.
- Address student questions consistent with university, college/school, and department policies.
- Provide online or in person academic support to students as needed and appropriate for the teaching assignment.
- Provide instruction in assigned classes consistent with the content and learning objectives of the regular course syllabus and, if required, with department course coordination policies.
- Comply with university-wide student evaluation of instruction policies and peer observation policies.
- Adapt and learn new modes of instruction.
- Be sensitive to the educational needs of a diverse student population.
