About The Position

This is an applicant pool for affiliate faculty in Mechanical Engineering Technology at Metropolitan State University (MSU Denver). These are temporary, part-time, non-tenure track academic positions that vary from semester to semester based on program needs. MSU Denver, established in 1965, serves over 16,000 diverse students and is a model university for today’s college students, recognized as a Hispanic-Serving Institution (gHSI) and the only Seal of Excelencia certified institution in Colorado. The Department of Engineering and Engineering Technology offers undergraduate degrees in Environmental Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering Technology, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Construction Project Management, preparing students for real-world challenges with a focus on sustainability, technology, infrastructure, and leadership. The department's faculty are dedicated to challenging and supporting students to equip them with strong math, science, analysis, and problem-solving skills for meaningful impact.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • Four years of relevant experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, plus four years of relevant experience or Doctorate.

Responsibilities

  • Teaching assigned classes in person or online by delivering course content to students.
  • Preparing course materials and lesson plans.
  • Grading student work.
  • Providing students with robust feedback in a timely manner.
  • Addressing student questions consistent with university, college/school, and department policies.
  • Providing online or in person academic support to students as needed and appropriate for the teaching assignment.
  • Providing instruction in assigned classes consistent with the content and learning objectives of the regular course syllabus and, if required, with department course coordination policies.
  • Complying with university-wide student evaluation of instruction policies and peer observation policies.
  • Adapting and learning new modes of instruction.
  • Being sensitive to the educational needs of a diverse student population.
