About The Position

This posting is for an applicant pool for affiliate faculty in Anthropology. These are temporary, part-time, non-tenure track academic positions that vary from semester to semester based on program needs. The Department of Sociology and Anthropology at MSU Denver is seeking affiliate faculty to teach introductory Anthropology courses and potentially other areas based on applicant expertise and department needs. Classes may be assigned in person or online, during the morning, afternoon, or evening. Affiliate faculty are expected to teach assigned classes by delivering course content, preparing materials, grading student work, providing feedback, addressing student questions, and offering academic support. Instruction should align with the course syllabus and department policies. Adaptability to new teaching modes and sensitivity to a diverse student population are encouraged.

Requirements

  • A Master’s degree in Anthropology or related field

Nice To Haves

  • Ph.D. in Anthropology or related field plus teaching experience is desirable

Responsibilities

  • Teach introductory courses in Anthropology, as well as other areas based upon department needs and according to applicant’s field of study
  • Morning, afternoon, evening, or online classes may be assigned if available
  • Teaching assigned classes in person or online by delivering course content to students
  • Preparing course materials and lesson plans
  • Grading student work
  • Providing students with robust feedback in a timely manner
  • Addressing student questions consistent with university, college/school, and department policies
  • Providing online or in person academic support to students as needed and appropriate for the teaching assignment
  • Providing instruction in assigned classes consistent with the content and learning objectives of the regular course syllabus and, if required, with department course coordination policies
  • Complying with university-wide student evaluation of instruction policies and peer observation policies
