About The Position

The Division of Business, Health, Humanities, Social Sciences at Penn State Altoona is seeking a part-time instructor in Anthropology to teach entry-level courses in cultural anthropology, biological anthropology, and/or archaeology. The position involves teaching in-person courses for the 2026-2027 academic year. Opportunities include teaching courses such as World Archaeology, Aztec, Inca, and Maya, The Rise of Civilization in the Old World, North American Archaeology, Introductory Biological Anthropology, Humans as Primates, Cultural Diversity: A Global Perspective, Anthropology of Race and Racism, First Farmers, Anthropology of Alcohol, and Indigenous North America. Requirements

  • Minimum of a Master’s degree in Anthropology or a related field.
  • Advanced certification/expertise in a related, specialized field.
  • Successful completion of background check(s) in accordance with University policies.

Responsibilities

  • Teach in-person, entry-level courses in cultural anthropology, biological anthropology, and/or archaeology.
  • Teach courses such as ANTH 2N – World Archaeology, ANTH 8 – Aztec, Inca, and Maya, ANTH 9N - The Rise of Civilization in the Old World, ANTH 11 - North American Archaeology, ANTH 21 - Introductory Biological Anthropology, ANTH 22 - Humans as Primates, and ANTH 45N – Cultural Diversity: A Global Perspective, ANTH 100N – Anthropology of Race and Racism, ANTH 120 – First Farmers, ANTH 140 – Anthropology of Alcohol, and ANTH 146 – Indigenous North America.
