About The Position

At MasTec Communications Group, the Aerial Lineman Trainee develops skills and supports utility construction for a variety of telecommunications projects in a safety-minded environment. The role assists a Lineman with aerial and buried cable placement, cable and hardware connections, aerial construction tasks, and related excavation and conduit work. The trainee climbs utility poles and/or operates from an aerial lift truck to place cables according to system design.

Requirements

• Demonstrate a day-to-day commitment to safety.
• Have a track record of completing work to a high quality standard.
• Have problem-solving ability and enjoy hands-on work.
• Be interested in long-term projects and working as part of a team.
• Have experience as a Lineman and extensive knowledge of equipment needed for aerial work.
• Be comfortable working in a bucket truck and climbing poles.
• Have a valid driver's license and the ability to obtain a DOT medical card for driving purposes.
• Have basic experience placing telecommunications cable, including copper and fiber.
• Meet company standards for a safe driving record; applicants are subject to an MVR review.

• CDL preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Lineman in completing assigned duties.
• Assist with placing aerial and buried telecommunications cable, including copper and fiber.
• Assist with connecting wires and cables to terminals and attaching or detaching hardware to wires, cables, buildings, or poles.
• Perform aerial tasks such as new cable installations, pole transfers, strand building, cable hanging, and lashing.
• Perform construction work such as digging holes and placing cable, air pipe, and inner duct in conduit systems and open excavations.
• Climb utility poles and/or use an aerial lift truck to place cables on poles according to system design.
