About The Position

At MasTec Communications Group, an Aerial Lineman Trainee develops skills in a safety-minded environment while supporting utility construction for telecommunications projects. The role assists a Lineman and helps place and connect aerial and buried copper and fiber cable. Trainees perform aerial installation tasks and construction work, and climb utility poles or use an aerial lift truck to place cables according to system design.

Requirements

Demonstrate a day-to-day commitment to safety.
Have a track record of completing work to a high level of quality.
Be able to figure out difficult problems and take a hands-on approach to work.
Be interested in long-term projects and working as part of a team.
Have experience as a Lineman and extensive knowledge of equipment needed for aerial work.
Be comfortable working in a bucket truck and climbing poles.
Have a valid driver's license and the ability to obtain a DOT medical card for driving purposes.
Meet company standards for a safe driving record; applicants are subject to an MVR review.
Have basic experience placing telecommunications cable, including copper and fiber.

Nice To Haves

CDL preferred.

Responsibilities

Assist the Lineman in completing assigned duties.
Assist with placing aerial and buried telecommunications cable, including copper and fiber.
Assist with connecting wires and cables to terminals and attaching or detaching hardware to wires, cables, buildings, or poles.
Perform aerial work such as new cable installations, pole transfers, strand building, cable hanging, and lashing.
Perform construction work such as digging holes and placing cable, air pipe, and inner duct in conduit systems and open excavations.
Climb utility poles and/or use an aerial lift truck to place cables on poles according to system design.
