AEC Specialist

LightTable AI•Denver, CO

About The Position

LightTable is hiring an AEC Specialist to bring deep architecture, engineering, and construction expertise to customer discovery, sales pursuits, proof-of-concept work, pilots, and enterprise implementations. The role translates technical capabilities into measurable construction value and helps customers integrate LightTable into their project workflows. The AEC Specialist works alongside Account Executives during pre-sales and pilots, then alongside Engagement Managers during enterprise rollout. The role leads technical discussions and demonstrations, defines proof-of-concept and pilot strategies, validates analysis findings against project experience, trains project teams, supports adoption, and helps establish firm-wide standards. The Specialist also serves as a connection between Sales, Engagement, Product, and Engineering, communicating product gaps with supporting drawings and practitioner feedback. The role owns findings quality on assigned accounts. The position reports to the VP of AEC and is part of the Go to Market team, with close ties to Product and Engineering. Success is assessed through practitioner credibility, accepted findings, pilot conversion and adoption, implementation quality, actionable product feedback, and customer champions who can onboard others.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in architecture, engineering, construction management, or a related field.
  • At least 8 years of experience in architecture, engineering, or with a general contractor, owner/developer, or owner’s representative on large commercial, mission-critical, or data center projects.
  • Hands-on experience conducting construction document reviews and coordinating across disciplines.
  • Ability to distinguish genuine issues from false positives and understand the cost false positives impose on project teams.
  • Understanding of broader development processes from multiple stakeholder perspectives.
  • Ability to train practitioners, facilitate groups, and change how teams work—not merely demonstrate a product.
  • Ability to translate technical findings into clear business value and present effectively to practitioners and executives, adapting the message to the audience.
  • Ability to respond constructively to skepticism and guide groups toward action.
  • Exceptional listening and questioning skills, including the ability to lead customer discovery, uncover root problems, and build shared understanding.
  • Comfort with emerging technologies, particularly AI, and ability to bridge traditional AEC workflows with new tools.

Nice To Haves

  • Professional licensure (RA, PE) or equivalent industry credentials.
  • Data center or hyperscaler project experience, including MEP-heavy and OFCI-driven coordination.
  • Prior experience in pre-sales, solutions engineering, implementation, or training at a construction technology company.
  • Fluency with tools used by project teams, such as Bluebeam, Procore, and Autodesk Construction Cloud.
  • Curiosity and empathy for stakeholder incentives across the development process.

Responsibilities

  • Uncover customer problems through discovery and shape solutions around them, translating technical capabilities into measurable construction value.
  • Work with Sales and Engagement from discovery through proof of concept, pilot implementation, and ongoing customer engagement.
  • Lead the AEC side of new customer pursuits alongside the Account Executive.
  • Run deep-dive demonstrations and technical readiness discussions with prospective customers’ project teams.
  • Establish credibility and trust as the AEC domain expert.
  • Define proof-of-concept and pilot strategies with the Account Executive and Engagement Manager, including the problem to solve, projects, use cases, stakeholders, workflows, success criteria, and baselines.
  • Own backtests end to end: analyze projects customers have already built, validate findings against their teams’ experience, and prepare findings packages.
  • Present backtest findings, including issues, severity, sheet references, and cost of miss, in terms practitioners accept and economic buyers can act on.
  • Lead pilot delivery across 3–5 live projects, serving as the main connection to end users, providing practice-specific training, and integrating LightTable into project review workflows.
  • Turn pilot tuning into firm standards, including default rulesets, templates, and enablement material that can scale without the Specialist present.
  • Deliver customer projects through implementation by configuring workflows and supporting adoption as the Engagement Manager rolls out the program across offices.
  • Support Account Executives and Engagement Managers with domain expertise during renewals and expansions as needed.
  • Serve as the primary conduit between Sales and Engagement teams and Product; log product gaps with the drawings that caused them and relay practitioner feedback to Engineering.
  • Own findings quality on assigned accounts.
