Advanced Practice Provider (PA or NP) - Urgent Care
About The Position
This role involves providing comprehensive patient care in an urgent care setting. The Advanced Practice Provider (APP), either a Physician Assistant (PA) or Nurse Practitioner (NP), will be responsible for assessing, diagnosing, and managing a wide range of acute and chronic illnesses. Key aspects of the role include developing treatment plans, prescribing medications, ordering diagnostic tests, and collaborating with a healthcare team. The APP will also focus on preventive care, patient education, and maintaining accurate medical records while adhering to all relevant regulations and standards.
Requirements
- Current licensure as a Physician Assistant (PA) or Nurse Practitioner (NP).
- Current certifications and continuing education requirements must be maintained.
Responsibilities
- Conduct patient assessments, including history taking, physical exams, and diagnostic evaluations.
- Diagnose and manage acute and chronic illnesses using evidence-based guidelines.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans, including prescribing medications, ordering laboratory and radiology tests, and referring patients to specialists as appropriate.
- Provide preventive care, patient education, counseling, and lifestyle guidance to support overall health and wellness.
- Discuss potential side effects of medications/treatments with patients and ensure allergy information is current.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care.
- Maintain accurate, complete, and timely medical records in compliance with departmental policies and federal/state privacy regulations.
- Adhere to departmental procedures, quality improvement initiatives, and safety, environmental, and infection control standards.
- Maintain current licensure, certifications, and continuing education requirements.
