About The Position

The Medical College of Wisconsin’s Department of Pediatrics, Division of Hematology, Oncology, Bone Marrow Transplant, is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to provide care within the inpatient unit, specialty clinic, and day hospital. The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) works as a member of a multidisciplinary health care team who will contribute to excellence in program administration, patient care, patient safety, research, quality improvement, and teaching. This role reports to the APP Manager. The primary patient population includes oncology patients, ranging from infants to young adults. Occasional flex to support BMT and/or Hematology services may be required. The APP will contribute to excellence in patient care, research, quality improvement, patient safety, and teaching.

Requirements

  • Advanced Practice Nurse: Master’s Degree or higher in Nursing from a nationally accredited organization.
  • Physician Assistant: Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Physician Assistant Studies from an ARC-PA-accredited organization.
  • Wisconsin RN License
  • Wisconsin Advanced Practice Nurse Prescriber License
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • DEA registration
  • Nurse Practitioner Certification from a nationally accredited professional nursing organization
  • Physician Assistant Wisconsin Physician Assistant License
  • Certification by National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • DEA registration
  • Citi Training (required in the first six months)

Nice To Haves

  • Previous APP pediatric oncology experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care to children under the care of the inpatient and outpatient oncology service.
  • Services will be performed in the Inpatient and/or Outpatient Oncology unit with the potential to also provide support in the Day Hospital and/or Procedures unit.
  • Contribute to excellence in patient care, research, quality improvement, patient safety, and teaching.
