About The Position

Under supervision, and in collaboration with physician colleagues, assists with diagnosing and treating patients; performs professional duties and technical procedures of the particular area of specialty to provide health care services, such as, operative procedures, suturing, and injections. Makes initial diagnosis and order appropriate tests and treatment. Assists in surgery where applicable; assists with facilitating and coordinating communication between the health care team, patient and patient’s family. Coordinates care to ensure quality, effective care and patient safety.

Requirements

  • Master of Science degree in Nursing, Registered Nurse license and certified as a Nurse Practitioner OR Graduation from a Physician Assistant Training Program approved by the Board of Physician Quality Assurance.
  • Registered and currently recorded with the Maryland Board of Examiners of Nurses and certified as a Nurse Practitioner in the State of Maryland OR National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) is required.
  • DEA and CDS eligible.
  • CPR required.
  • BLS required.
  • Ability to demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possesses the ability to assess data reflective of the patient’s requirements relative to his or her population-specific and age specific needs.
  • Demonstrates highly effective verbal and written communication skills are required to interact with patient families, departmental units, medical and nursing staff on all essential matters.
  • Maintains updated mandatory training.
  • Updates immunizations as recommended per practice area.

Nice To Haves

  • ACLS and/or other relevant certifications as required by the department.
  • Demonstrates ability to promote professionalism through involvement in professional organizations, teaching, research, publishing, and/or certification in area of specialty.

  • The referenced base salary range represents the low and high end of University of Maryland’s Faculty Physician’s Inc. salary range for this position.
  • Exact salary will ultimately depend on multiple factors, which may include the successful candidate's geographic location, skills, work experience, market conditions, internal equity, responsibility factor and span of control, education/training and other qualifications.
