About The Position

This position is for a Regular Part-Time Professor to teach CPT5100A00 - Advanced Competencies in Financial Accounting during the Fall 2026 semester at the Telfer School of Management, Main Campus. The course covers non-routine accounting transactions, complex financial instruments, public sector financial reporting, and emerging trends in financial reporting. The teaching method will be delivered in person.

Requirements

  • MBA or Master's degree (PhD preferred) in financial accounting.
  • Recent professional experience in financial accounting.
  • Extensive knowledge of ASPE and IFRS.
  • Teaching experience, preferably in graduate courses or advanced undergraduate courses in financial accounting.
  • Experience teaching with cases.
  • Familiarity with the current CPA Professional Education Program.
  • CPA professional accounting designation.
  • Ability to teach in English.

Responsibilities

  • Teach Advanced Competencies in Financial Accounting (CPT5100 Section A00) during the Fall 2026 semester.
  • Cover non-routine accounting transactions, including uncommon capital assets, restructurations, hedge accounting, complex financial instruments, complex note disclosure, and public sector financial reporting.
  • Address complex transactions involving consolidation, revenue recognition, stock-based compensation, asset impairments, intangible assets, leases, and future income taxes.
  • Discuss emerging trends in financial reporting.
  • Deliver instruction in person.
  • Complete all mandatory legislated training as required by provincial law.
