About The Position

This is a seasonal position at Palisades Tahoe. The Adult Mountain Sports School Supervisor will assist the manager and director in supervising a team of employees, handling responsibilities such as interviewing, hiring, training, scheduling, performance appraisal, and conflict resolution. The role involves overseeing daily operations including guest check-in, class assignments, instructor support, data entry, and facility upkeep. Compliance with labor laws and company policies, enforcement of safety standards, and coordination of marketing and promotional programs are also key aspects of the job. The position requires active leadership in instructor training and may involve teaching group and private lessons.

Requirements

• Applicants must be at least 18 years of age.
• Able to communicate effectively in writing and verbally across all levels of the organization.
• Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks.
• Able to establish and maintain effective working relationships and interact with others
• Working knowledge of computers including MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Access)
• Advanced skiing and/or snowboarding skills, teaching skills, and PSIA/AASI certifications.
• Working knowledge of PSIA/AASI teaching principles and techniques.
• Ability to lead and direct employees and serve customers under intense conditions.
• Regularly required to stand, walk, talk, see, hear, and ski.
• Must be capable of walking, standing and skiing 90% or more of a normal 8 hour work shift.
• Must be capable of occasionally carrying, lifting. pushing or pulling up to 50lbs.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perceptions and the ability to adjust focus.
• High School Diploma or GED
• Two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
• PSIA/AASI level 1 certification or equivalent

• PSIA/AASI level 3 certification.
• One-year supervisory experience
• A Motor Vehicle Record review may be required as part of your job.

Responsibilities

• Assist manager in supervising a team of 15-30 employees.
• Assist in supervisory responsibilities such as interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
• Supervise the daily operation, including but not limited to; guest check-in, class assignments, getting classes out in a timely manner, checking on classes and assisting instructors on hill, entering class data in Flaik, facility upkeep and cleanliness.
• Comply with Federal and California Labor law in all phases of the payroll and employment process; from hiring through termination, as well as all Company policies & procedures.
• Enforce safety standards in accordance with company policies and procedures.
• Assists with coordination of the different programs in the Adult School.
• Carries out daily procedures to aid in effective personnel and financial management of the Snowsports School.
• Assists in various marketing promotional programs to promote Snowsports School programs.
• Records and maintains files for various Ski and Snowboard School programs.
• Actively leads the quality and direction of Instructor Training.
• Performs or assists subordinates in performing duties.
• Teaches group and private lessons.
