About The Position

The Adult Education Instructor will teach the course curriculum as outlined for and other instructional educational training programs developed for adults. Teaching assignments may include Distance Learning, English as a Second Language, and Adult Basic Education. The role involves building knowledge and clinical skills to assist students in obtaining credentials, maintaining accurate student records, and assisting with student recruitment and program implementation. The instructor will evaluate and document student progress, communicate effectively with students and affiliated staff, and provide a stimulating learning environment. This position also requires working collaboratively with advisors, career coaches, and SNAP case managers to help students access benefits and employment. The role may involve physical work with patients and students in a clinical setting and requires the ability to work nights. The instructor will also supervise students in various settings and work with diverse populations. Excellent organizational skills and experience teaching adult learners are essential. The instructor must maintain prompt attendance, positive professional relationships, and emotional control under stress. Other duties as assigned by the Adult Education Director are also part of this role.

Requirements

Must meet AR licensure requirements.
Excellent organizational skills.
Skilled in teaching adult learners.
Ability to lift at least 40 pounds occasionally.
Ability to endure prolonged standing, walking, sitting, kneeling, occasional reaching above the head or the shoulders, bending, squatting.

Responsibilities

Teach the course curriculum as outlined for and other instructional educational training programs developed for adults.
Build knowledge and develop clinical skills aimed at assisting students to obtain credentials.
Maintain accurate records on all students, including but not limited to attendance records, schedules and course requirements regarding hours of instruction and content.
Assist the director of Adult Ed in recruiting students for their programs, and assist with implementing new programs.
Evaluate and document students’ progress through testing, observation, and assessment of skills attained.
Communicate effectively with students, and all those affiliated with the course, including staff at any training facilities, and prospective employers.
Provide a stimulating environment that encourages student participation, interpersonal skills development, and concepts of good patient care.
Maintain a monthly time sheet and turn in at required deadlines.
Work as a team with advisors, career coaches, and SNAP case manager to assist students in obtaining available benefits and potential employment.
Ability to perform physical work with patients and students in a clinical setting, if applicable.
Ability to work nights.
Carries out duty as assigned, including after-school or before-school duties.
Supervises students on recess, bus, during before and after school duty, on field trips, extracurricular events, and in out-of-classroom activities during the assigned working day.
Ability to work with diverse populations.
Maintains prompt and regular attendance and demonstrates the ability to maintain positive professional working relationships with others.
Maintain emotional control under stress.
Perform all other duties as assigned by the Adult Education Director.
