About The Position

Louisiana Delta Community College is seeking an Adjunct Adult Education Instructor to teach adult education classes. This role involves planning lessons and curriculum tailored to adult learners, delivering instruction using various methods, and creating a supportive classroom environment. The instructor will be responsible for student assessment, record-keeping, and fostering student development. This is an unclassified, adjunct appointment.

Requirements

An Associate's degree or higher.
Strong communication skills, including both written and oral.
Ability to prioritize, negotiate, and work with a variety of personalities.
Passing pre-employment criminal background screen is required as a condition of employment.

Nice To Haves

A Bachelor's degree.
Three (3) years teaching experience.

Responsibilities

Teach adult education classes using instructional methods geared towards adult learners in a classroom setting.
Plan lessons and curriculum based on the learning needs of diverse students to prepare them for high school equivalency tests and/or enhance basic education skills.
Deliver whole group, small group, and individualized instruction using a variety of methods, materials, and techniques.
Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for student maturity and interest.
Administer pre- and post-testing using the TABE Assessment as required by DRC and Adult Education guidelines.
Maintain daily attendance records and progress reports.
Keep accurate, complete, and up-to-date records.
Enter all reportable data into the approved Student Information System according to policy.
Participate in and manage registration, testing, and scheduling events.
Establish positive and trusting relationships with students.
Foster student accountability, self-advocacy, self-awareness, and critical thinking skills.
Adhere to regulations regarding the confidentiality of student records.
Promote student participation in all aspects of Adult Education programming.
Maintain a clean and professional classroom environment.
Adhere to LDCC's Standards of Practice.
Perform any other duties as assigned.
