About The Position

Under general supervision, the Group Leader is responsible for assisting in a wide variety of program areas as assigned by Program Coordinator (PC) or designee. The Group Leader Implements program plans under direct supervision of the Program Supervisor (PS) and provides personal and quality care to the people supported.

Requirements

  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.
  • Ability to analyze problems and determine corrective measures.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Must be able to interact effectively with co-workers, employees, people supported, and their advocates.

Nice To Haves

  • A valid, clean NYS Driver’s License is preferred.
  • Associate degree or equivalent of 60 Credits from an accredited university preferred
  • Six months of related experience is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the proper implementation of services plans and complete documentation of data for the people supported in the program area.
  • Maintain daily operation of program area by directing staff to complete activities and facilitate interactions between staff and the people supported.
  • Support billing and clinical processes by maintaining accurate attendance records and ensuring data requirements are met in the program area daily.
  • Establish person-centered activity schedules, make staff assignments, and ensure daily execution of plans in the program area.
  • Lead community inclusion planning and execution with people supported and staff in the program area.
  • Provide physical and programmatic aid and supervision to people supported where assigned.
  • Assist the people supported in achieving the highest level of independence in all areas of daily living by planning, developing, and implementing daily goals and activities, including but not limited to self-care (including toileting and clothing), communication, socialization, eating, cognitive skills and mobility.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of people supported and staff where assigned.
  • Write incident reports that meet agency standards and OPWDD requirements.
  • Collect data for written service plans as assigned, i.e. behavior plans, treatment plans, staff action plans, etc.
  • Maintain a clean and organized classroom environment.
  • Adhere to all agency policies and procedures.
  • Follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Interact appropriately and follow all regulatory items concerning the people supported we serve.
  • Attend required meetings and/or conferences as assigned.
  • Participate in agency and department-specific training programs and demonstrate understanding and compliance with agency policy and OPWDD regulations.
  • Use precautions to maintain the health and safety of staff and people supported while at work.
  • Substitute in other groups as requested.
  • Perform other job duties as requested.
  • Maintain consistent attendance and punctuality, ensure work responsibilities are covered when absent, and arrive at meetings and appointments on time.
