About The Position

Alzheimer’s Community Care (ACC), a nonprofit organization supporting families, caregivers, and people with Alzheimer’s disease and other conditions resulting in dementia, is hiring a Program Nurse for its Specialized Alzheimer’s Day Center. The nurse coordinates and supervises patients’ basic health services and needs, administers medications according to prescription labels, physician orders, and accepted nursing practices, and assesses and supervises each patient’s health needs. The role also contributes to designing and implementing the center’s activity schedule and may act as Program Manager in the Program Manager’s absence.

Requirements

Clear, active Florida LPN license.
Must pass AHCA Level II criminal background and drug screenings.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining flexibility.
Excellent time-management skills.
Proficient in all Microsoft Office suite products.
Able to work independently and as part of a team.

Nice To Haves

Two to five years of experience in a clinical setting, or a psychiatric/crisis intervention background, is preferred; recent graduates will also be considered.

Responsibilities

Coordinate and supervise basic health services and needs of patients in the Specialized Alzheimer’s Day Center.
Administer patient medications according to prescription labels, physician orders, and accepted nursing practices.
Evaluate and supervise each patient’s health needs and assist in designing and implementing the activity schedule.
Develop individual care plans and document recurrent patient problems, symptoms, and behavior changes in written progress notes.
Adjust care plans to meet changing patient and family needs.
Interact with patients’ physicians when needed.
Assist with and supervise help for patients’ personal care needs, including toileting, dressing, eating, and ambulating.
In the absence of the Program Manager, act as Program Manager and supervise program staff and volunteers.
