About The Position

The North Carolina Department of Labor is charged by statute with promoting the health, safety and general well-being of the workers in the state. The laws and programs the Department administers affect every worker in the state. The Department is organized into three primary divisions which carry out the Department's principle regulatory, enforcement and promotional programs, and the administrative operations. The three primary divisions have divisions, bureaus and offices under each, which carry out the specific and specialized portions of the NCDOL mission. This position provides a variety of administrative support services for the East Bureau – OSH Compliance Raleigh Field Office. Duties include: greeting in a professional manner members of the public, drafting and typing documents, filing, process referrals and complaints, setup new inspection files, prepare documents for USPS and Certified Mail, maintain and process surplus requests, and prepare files for collections.

Requirements

  • Selected applicant must live within a 50-mile radius of the Raleigh Field Office or relocate within 30 days of job acceptance
  • Must be able to obtain notary certification within 90 days of employment
  • The ability to handle multiple tasks and respond cordially and effectively to public inquiries is essential
  • Must pay close attention to detail and be able to complete tasks with a high level of accuracy, attention to detail, and confidentiality
  • Must be able to establish and maintain working relationships with others and carry out general instructions, both written and oral
  • Competency is required in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • A valid driver's license is required
  • Applicant must live within a 50-mile radius of the office or relocate within 30 days of job acceptance
  • The selected candidate must obtain notary certification within 90 days of the hire date and maintain an active notary commission throughout employment
  • Experience with office processes and equipment in a large office environment
  • High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and two years of related administrative experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
