About The Position

This is a temporary position with the Office of State Human Resources (OSHR) Temporary Solutions, classified as an Administrative Specialist I. The agency's mission is to provide a solid Human Resource management foundation, responsible oversight, and creative solutions through a collaborative approach with all stakeholders to maximize the potential of its employees. This specific temporary role is located at 3301 Terminal Drive, Raleigh, NC 27609 in Wake County, within the Department of Health and Human Services. The NC Disability Determination Services (NCDDS) Division is responsible for making medical determinations on disability claims for the Social Security Administration and the state Medicaid office, adjudicating over 140,000 applications annually. The position reports to the Business Officer I and supports the Budget Unit.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and two years of related administrative experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to identify and understand issues, problems, and opportunities.
  • Considerable knowledge of policies and procedures related to a program or area of specialization.
  • Skilled in providing excellent service to internal and external customers.
  • Ability to grasp complex learning situations that involve several steps and require appropriate action within procedural and operational guidelines.
  • Knowledge of NCFS and Microsoft suite (with a focus on Excel and Outlook)

Responsibilities

  • Maintaining the electronic Vendor File for the agency, which involves establishing new vendors in the internal and statewide accounting system
  • Updating existing vendor information to ensure system integrity and payments
  • Resolving discrepancies in the vendor file
  • Analyzing the status of vendors on a routine basis and deleting out-of-date vendors
  • Processing electronic medical evidence of records (MER) vouchers for payments
  • Researching vendors' information and returned checks from vendors
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned
