About The Position

The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) is one of the largest, most complex agencies in the state, and has approximately 17,000 employees. It is responsible for ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of all North Carolinians, providing human service needs for special populations including individuals who are deaf, blind, developmentally disabled, and mentally ill, and helping poor North Carolinians achieve economic independence. This position serves as a member of a team with shared work responsibilities involving the operational functions of the CDSA. This position supports functions that allow the CDSA to maximize agency revenues, maintain staff efficiency and comply with state and federal requirements. Detailed duties of the position are determined at the agency level including supporting operational functions of the CDSA. Duties may be adjusted in response to staffing patterns and/or to meet the needs of the agency. The Division of Child and Family Well-Being works to promote healthy and thriving children in safe, stable and nurturing families, schools and communities. The division includes complementary programs that primarily serve children and youth to improve their health and well-being.

Requirements

  • Required knowledge of office protocol
  • Must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing and analyze data for trends and variables
  • Must be able to analyze and interpret policy and procedural guidelines and to resolve problems and questions
  • Must have demonstrated skills in organizing workflow and coordinating activities and be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of staff
  • High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and two years of related administrative experience
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in using databases and automated billing software is highly desirable
  • Knowledge of third-party billing and experience billing Medicaid and private insurers
