About The Position

The main purpose of this full-time contractual position is to support the coordination and implementation of key public health initiatives within the Office of the Deputy Secretary for Public Health Services (ODSPHS). This position will serve as a liaison and central point of coordination between the Maryland Department of Health (MDH), Local Health Officers and Local Health Departments (LHDs) by managing incoming requests, facilitating communication, coordinating meetings and ensuring timely follow-up across programs. This position will coordinate meetings with Local Health Officers and key stakeholders, including developing agendas, preparing materials, documenting key discussions and decisions and tracking follow-up items. This position will compile and synthesize local health priorities and feedback and will work with MDH programs to gather and share information with LHDs. This position will also support performance management, quality improvement and accreditation-related work by helping organize and maintain documentation, track deliverables and timelines, and coordinate materials aligned with Public Health Accreditation Board (PHAB) standards and measures. This position will provide technical assistance and coordination support to LHDs to advance their accreditation efforts. This position will also assist with documenting and maintaining standard operating procedures (SOPs) and internal processes to support consistency within PHS, including coordination with LHDs and collaboration with MDH programs to support alignment of processes across PHS, LHDs and the broader department.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
  • Two years of administrative staff or professional work.
  • Possession of a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland (if assigned duties requiring vehicle operation).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in public health, public administration, health policy, project coordination or quality improvement through work or coursework.
  • Experience demonstrating strong organizational, communication and coordination skills while working collaboratively with internal and external partners.
  • Experience managing multiple assignments and follow-up activities.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office applications to prepare meeting materials, track action items and organize documentation.
