About The Position

A DJS Transportation Officer is the intermediate level of work providing supervision and guidance to youths residing in a facility operated by the Department of Juvenile Services. Guides, directs, and organizes youth, while maintaining safety and security, care, custody and program continuity in accordance with established DJS policies and facility procedures. Perform duties under general supervision. Additionally, the purpose of this position is to provide direct care coverage over a continuum of shifts.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
  • One year of experience working with groups of children or youth in a structured environment, such as a recreation center or school setting.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.

  • Employees in this classification may be subject to call-in 24 hours a day and, therefore, may be supplied with a pager or may be required to provide the employing agency with a telephone number at which they can be reached.
  • Employees in this classification are subject to substance abuse testing in accordance with Code of Maryland Regulation 17.04.09 – Testing for Illegal Use of Drugs.
