About The Position

The Administrative Officer I supports the Warden by managing the business and personnel operations at Tyrrell Prison Work Farm. This is a Monday–Friday position, working 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The role helps organize and coordinate all administrative processes at the facility. It includes supervising the daily work of staff who handle business and human resources tasks. The Administrative Officer I provides guidance to employees and supervisors and serves as a key resource for administrative issues. This position plays an important role in developing and monitoring the facility’s budget and ensuring all fiscal policies and procedures are followed. It also helps maintain smooth administrative operations by identifying needed changes, communicating those changes to management, researching problems, and determining ongoing needs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an appropriately accredited institution and one year of experience in HR, budgeting, research or administrative management; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of understanding of core human resources principles and the demonstrated skills to apply them effectively in daily administrative operations.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of standard accounting and budgeting practices, including tracking expenses and ensuring compliance with financial guidelines.
  • Demonstrated experience using modern administrative or HR software systems to support workflow, documentation, and reporting needs.
