Part-Time Administrative Assistant

Legal Action Chicago LLCChicago, IL
Hybrid

About The Position

Legal Action Chicago is a close partner with Legal Aid Chicago, the Midwest’s largest provider of free civil legal services to people who are living in poverty. We work closely with the advocates at Legal Aid Chicago and with community groups to identify the most pressing policy and systemic issues affecting low-income families, with a special focus on racial equity. We litigate class actions, pursue legislative and administrative initiatives, and undertake other forms of community-based policy advocacy to effect systemic changes. Our work spans the subject matter of all of Legal Aid Chicago’s practice groups (Children & Families, Consumer, Housing, Immigrants & Workers’ Rights, Pro Bono & Community Partnerships, and Public Benefits), and we welcome applicants who have cross-cutting interests and experiences. Legal Action Chicago has a small staff of five attorneys plus government relations contractors. It purchases all “back office” functions from Legal Aid Chicago. But it has a growing need for administrative capacity, including record-keeping, development activities, social media, events, research and calendar maintenance. It is a collegial and cooperative atmosphere and a “hybrid” approach allowing a substantial portion of work time to be remote. Legal Action Chicago seeks a part-time (60%) Administrative Assistant. The position could expand to more time as the organization grows.
