About The Position

The Department of Corrections, Division of Institutions, is recruiting for an Administrative Assistant 2 position for the Palmer Correctional Center located in Palmer, Alaska. Under the general supervision of the Administrative Officer 2, this role develops and implements the annual spending plan for Palmer Correctional Center (PCC). Responsibilities include receiving and verifying receipt of products and services, applying financial coding to invoices and submitting them for payment. The position is also responsible for the day-to-day management of offender trust accounts, maintaining institutional personnel records, and tracking, reviewing, and processing staff evaluations. The Administrative Assistant 2 is a key member of the hiring team and leads all payroll functions, including reviewing and entering employee biweekly payroll for 106 employees.

Requirements

  • Six months of entry-level technical experience in one or more administrative functional areas such as human resources, accounting, administration, and procurement (e.g., Administrative Assistant 1, Accounting Technician 1, Human Resource Technician 1, or similar).
  • One year of advanced-level clerical experience (e.g., Office Assistant 2, Accounting Clerk, or similar).
  • One year of post-secondary education from an accredited college (32 semester hours or 48 quarter hours equals 1 year).
  • One year of any combination of post-secondary education, vocational education, and/or advanced-level clerical experience.
  • Must pass a criminal history check.
  • Must be fingerprinted.
  • Must have or be able to obtain a security clearance to use the Alaska Public Safety Information Network (APSIN).
