About The Position

The Alaska Department of Corrections (DOC), Division of Health and Rehabilitation Services is recruiting for a Corrections Nurse 1/2 at Yukon Kuskokwim Correctional Center (YKCC) in Bethel, Alaska. This role involves providing essential healthcare in a secure facility housing sentenced and unsentenced offenders. The position requires practicing in a highly autonomous setting, with a patient population of about 150 individuals. Nurses will need to become fluent in the facility's policies, procedures, and protocols, and have a deep understanding of their scope of practice.

Requirements

Eligibility for licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Alaska.
For Corrections Nurse 2: Eligibility for licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Alaska.
For Corrections Nurse 2: EITHER Successful completion of a formal training plan as a Corrections Nurse I with the State of Alaska; OR One year of entry level experience as a Registered Nurse.
Proof of licensure will be required prior to reporting to duty.
Applicants must possess a valid driver's license.
Must pass a criminal history check.
Must be fingerprinted.

Nice To Haves

Prior service as a Corrections Nurse I, Psychiatric Nurse I, or Nurse I with the State of Alaska or its equivalent with another employer.
Combinations of prior training and experience in other specializations of nursing care (e.g., Med-Surg, Psychiatric, Public Health, Critical Care) will be evaluated for comparability on a case-by-case basis.

Responsibilities
