About The Position

The Department of Economic Security (DES) is seeking an Administrative Assistant 1 to join the Disability Determination Services Administration (DDSA). This role performs a full range of professional administrative duties and is an in-office position. Requirements

  • Basic knowledge of computers and programs
  • Fundamental administrative support activities
  • Performance and productivity standards
  • Developing, coordinating and providing technical assistance to staff
  • Developing, facilitating and coordinating the work of staff
  • Utilizing verbal and written communications
  • Analyze and resolve routine problems
  • Establish and maintain effective interpersonal relationships
  • Use automated systems to enter and retrieve information
  • At least one year of clerical experience.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct case development activities which requires analysis and judgment
  • Schedule consultative examinations (CE) including pre and post follow-up phone calls and development assembly
  • Train and/or mentor new or less experienced support staff
  • Work with the Office of Disability Adjudicative Review (ODAR) within the Social Security Administration to schedule and order CE's requested by various Administrative Law Judges
  • Respond to inquiries from claimants, vendors and other sources regarding status of claim or for transportation
  • Contacts claimants, doctors, hospitals and other sources as needed
