About The Position

Savannah Technical College is seeking part-time instructors to teach courses in Welding. This role involves daily teaching duties such as class lecture, lesson planning, and classroom management. The instructor will be responsible for evaluating students’ progress, maintaining program certification requirements, and preparing necessary documentation and administrative reports. Ensuring safety and security in classroom and laboratory areas is crucial. The position also involves assisting with student recruitment and retention efforts, and working diligently to maximize student placements in Welding or related fields. Other duties may be assigned by the Department Head or Program Dean. The work schedule is flexible, including day/evening classes, and requires the ability to work evening hours and at multiple Savannah Technical College campus locations across Savannah/Chatham, Liberty, and Effingham Counties.

Requirements

Must have three (3) years of welding work experience within the past seven (7) years.
Must demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills along with computer skills.

Nice To Haves

Diploma in Welding from an accredited community college or technical school preferred.
Current American Welding Society Certification strongly preferred.
Teaching experience at a postsecondary institution is strongly desired.
Underwater welding experience/certification preferred.

Responsibilities

Daily teaching duties include class lecture, lesson planning, and classroom management.
Evaluating students’ progress in attaining goals and objectives.
Maintaining program certification requirements, as appropriate.
Preparing and maintaining required documentation and administrative reports.
Ensuring safety and security requirements are met in the classroom and laboratory areas.
Assisting with student recruitment and retention efforts.
Working diligently to maximize student placements in Welding or related field.
Other duties as assigned by Department Head or Program Dean.
