About The Position

Adjunct faculty are responsible for presenting instruction in the specified subject area. The payment method is based on contact hours, with a rate of $27.00 per contact hour. Instruction Provides instruction in the theory and practical applications of Welding and Joining Technology in accordance with academic state standards. Maintains knowledge of current trends and developments in Welding and Joining Technology. Instructs courses in a classroom and lab environment that closely simulates the environment of the industry. Instructs face-to-face, blended, or on-campus, as needed, in accordance with college faculty loads. Prepare standardized course syllabi using the provided template. Assesses student progress based on established course grading requirements; grades all coursework in a timely manner. Utilizes current technology in the classroom and lab. Meets with students, staff members, and other educators to discuss student instructional programs and other issues. Maintains program certification/accreditation requirements as appropriate for the teaching discipline. May be required to attend professional development training as required for specific classroom course delivery. Selected candidates must be able to work morning or evening hours, Monday through Thursday.

Requirements

  • Diploma in Welding and Joining Technology or related diploma/degree from an accredited institution.
  • Three (3) years of experience in welding and joining.
  • Must be able to pass a welding test; some locations will require an additional pipe welding test.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Unofficial transcripts from all accredited institutions.
  • Proof of industry certifications.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree in Welding & Joining Technology or related field from an accredited institution.
  • AWS or related welding and joining certifications.
  • Directly related teaching experience at the post-secondary level.
  • Online teaching experience.

Responsibilities

  • Provides instruction in the theory and practical applications of Welding and Joining Technology in accordance with academic state standards.
  • Maintains knowledge of current trends and developments in Welding and Joining Technology.
  • Instructs courses in a classroom and lab environment that closely simulates the environment of the industry.
  • Instructs face-to-face, blended, or on-campus, as needed, in accordance with college faculty loads.
  • Prepare standardized course syllabi using the provided template.
  • Assesses student progress based on established course grading requirements; grades all coursework in a timely manner.
  • Utilizes current technology in the classroom and lab.
  • Meets with students, staff members, and other educators to discuss student instructional programs and other issues.
  • Maintains program certification/accreditation requirements as appropriate for the teaching discipline.
  • May be required to attend professional development training as required for specific classroom course delivery.
  • Ensures safety and security requirements are met in the Welding and Joining Technology program.
  • Supports faculty to ensure all equipment is in working order.
  • Ensure students are instructed in and follow all safety rules for operating equipment and using tools.
  • Ensure classrooms and work areas are properly cleaned and maintained at all times.
  • Prepares course curriculum, syllabi, goals, and objectives.
  • Prepares lesson plans for instruction.
  • Works collaboratively with faculty within the discipline to establish, measure, and evaluate program or departmental student learning outcomes for continuous student improvement and success, and submits to the Welding and Joining Technology Program Director.

Benefits

  • $27.00 per contact hour.
  • All adjunct positions are part-time, temporary positions offered on a per-semester basis based on the needs of the college.
  • Adjunct positions do not include benefits or promises of future full-time employment.
