About The Position

Savannah Technical College is seeking part-time instructors to teach courses in Welding. This role involves daily teaching duties including class lecture, lesson planning, and classroom management. The instructor will evaluate students' progress, maintain program certification requirements, and prepare administrative reports. Ensuring safety and security in the classroom and laboratory is crucial. The position also involves assisting with student recruitment, retention, and maximizing student placements in Welding or related fields. The work schedule is flexible, including day/evening classes, and may require working at multiple Savannah Technical College campus locations across Savannah/Chatham, Liberty, and Effingham Counties.

Requirements

  • Must have three (3) years of welding work experience within the past seven (7) years.
  • Must demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills along with computer skills.
  • All male applicants between the ages of 18 and 26 years of age must present proof of Selective Service Registration.

Nice To Haves

  • Diploma in Welding from an accredited community college or technical school preferred.
  • Current American Welding Society Certification strongly preferred.
  • Teaching experience at a postsecondary institution is strongly desired.
  • Underwater welding experience/certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Daily teaching duties include class lecture, lesson planning, and classroom management.
  • Evaluating students’ progress in attaining goals and objectives.
  • Maintaining program certification requirements, as appropriate.
  • Preparing and maintaining required documentation and administrative reports.
  • Ensuring safety and security requirements are met in the classroom and laboratory areas.
  • Assisting with student recruitment and retention efforts.
  • Working diligently to maximize student placements in Welding or related field.
  • Other duties as assigned by Department Head or Program Dean.
  • Flexible work schedule hours to include day/evening classes. Must be able to work evening hours.
  • Must be able to work at multiple Savannah Technical College campus locations, to include those in Savannah/Chatham, Liberty and Effingham Counties.
