About The Position

This position involves teaching IAS 351: Model United Nations course, including lectures, case studies, exercises, and assignments. The role also includes supervising policy writing course activities such as position papers, research assignments, and Background Guides. Additionally, the adjunct will train and mentor teaching assistants to ensure quality instruction and continuity in student learning experiences. Support for program participants at national and international Model UN conferences is also a key expectation, along with upholding university policies and supporting program goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree (required, JD preferred).
  • Understanding of diplomacy, global issues, international relations, and the United Nations/international organizations.
  • Successful candidate must relocate and/or reside in Utah for the duration of their employment.
  • Must hold and be worthy to hold a current temple recommend (if a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints).
  • Must abide by the university's Honor Code and Dress & Grooming Standards.
  • Must support and contribute to the academic and religious missions of the university within the context of the principles and doctrines of the affiliated church.

Nice To Haves

  • Background in policy, advocacy, human rights, or international law preferred.
  • Familiarity with Brigham Young University policy and procedure.
