About The Position

Brigham Young University (BYU) is seeking an Adjunct Instructor to teach Haitian Creole within the French & Italian Department for their Evening School program. This position involves teaching and advising students at various proficiency levels, utilizing department-approved curriculum, and supporting students in developing practical language skills. Adjunct instructors are expected to participate in monthly training, collaborate with faculty for instructional consistency, and may mentor students in professional communication. The role requires the successful candidate to relocate and/or reside in Utah for the duration of their employment. Requirements

  • MA degree, or equivalent, completed by the start date.
  • Proven knowledge of language pedagogy.
  • Superior-level proficiency in Haitian Creole (ACTFL rating) or native speaker required.
  • Must relocate and/or reside in Utah for the duration of employment.

  • Demonstrated experience teaching university courses in Haitian Creole.
  • Curriculum development experience.

Responsibilities

  • Teach and advise students in beginner, intermediate, and advanced level Haitian Creole.
  • Use department-approved curriculum to guide instruction in conversation, reading, and writing.
  • Support students in developing real-world language applications.
  • Attend monthly training meetings.
  • Collaborate with faculty to maintain consistency in instruction and assessment.
  • Mentor students in professional writing and speaking (additional responsibility).
