About The Position

This position involves teaching two statistics courses, STATS 121: Introduction to Statistical Data Analysis and STATS 201: Statistics for Engineers and Scientists, as part of the Evening School program. The instructor will be responsible for adhering to department-approved curricula, providing clear course expectations, evaluations, and timelines, and engaging students to foster learning. The role also includes timely completion of administrative tasks such as grade books and assessments, identifying at-risk students for support services, and ensuring course learning outcomes are met. The position requires the successful candidate to relocate and/or reside in Utah for the duration of their employment. Requirements

  • BA/BS required.
  • BS in Statistics or Actuarial Science; MS in Statistics, Biostatistics, or Data Science is preferred.
  • Required degree must be completed by the start date.
  • University teaching experience strongly preferred.
  • Must relocate and/or reside in Utah for the duration of employment.
  • All new employees who are members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will be required to hold and be worthy to hold a current temple recommend.
  • All employees are required to abide by the university's Honor Code and Dress & Grooming Standards.

  • MS in Statistics, Biostatistics, or Data Science is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Teach STATS 121: Introduction to Statistical Data Analysis and STATS 201: Statistics for Engineers and Scientists, following department-approved curriculum
  • Provide each student with clear course expectations, evaluations, and timelines through carefully written topical outlines and an approved, standardized syllabus
  • Challenge, engage, serve, and communicate with students to encourage their participation and learning while maintaining mutual value and respect
  • Complete grade books, final grade sheets, learning assessments, and final exam assessments on a timely basis
  • Identify and refer at-risk students to specific academic support services
  • Ensure course and program learning outcomes are delivered as defined by the syllabus
