Adjunct Teaching – English Literature: Major Authors - Shakespeare (ENGL 382/384R)
About The Position
This position involves teaching an "Major Authors" literature course focused on Shakespeare (ENGL 382, 384R) at the college level. The instructor will be responsible for delivering the course content, being available for student office hours, and providing timely feedback on assignments. The role requires the instructor to reside in Utah and teach in-person classes on the BYU Provo campus. Adjunct faculty may be required to attend department training and periodic course coordination meetings, but do not attend department faculty meetings or participate in citizenship and research as part of their regular load. Additional compensation may be provided for minimal ad hoc curricular and mentoring assignments. Adjuncts are invited to attend optional mini-workshops.
Requirements
- MA in English or comparable field, completed by the start date.
- College-level English literature course instruction experience.
- Ability to teach in-person classes on the BYU Provo campus.
- Availability for at least three office hours each week.
- Willingness to share an office with up to two additional adjunct faculty.
- Ability to provide assignment feedback in a timely manner.
- Reside in the state of Utah for the duration of employment.
- If a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, must hold and be worthy to hold a current temple recommend.
- Abide by the university's Honor Code and Dress & Grooming Standards.
- Support and contribute to the academic and religious missions of the university within the context of the principles and doctrines of the affiliated church.
