About The Position
Point Loma Nazarene University (PLNU) is a Christian liberal arts university in the evangelical, Wesleyan tradition. The Masters of Science in Occupational Therapy Program is seeking candidates for multiple adjunct teaching positions, as well as adjunct faculty to develop curriculum, and secure fieldwork contracts. Requirements
- Master’s of science degree in occupational therapy, or an entry-level, post-professional occupational therapy doctorate degree, or another equivalent doctorate degree.
- Effective teaching in either the classroom, clinical, or academic setting.
- Embrace the mission of Point Loma Nazarene University.
- Knowledge of instructional strategies and techniques appropriate to effective undergraduate or graduate teaching.
- Knowledge of ways to instruct, manage, motivate and evaluate students.
- Five or more years of clinical experience as an occupational therapist with a demonstrated area of clinical expertise.
- Past experience supervising Level I and/or Level II fieldwork students.
- Thorough commitment to the concept of Christian liberal arts education and a desire to work in a Christian university.
- Supportive of the religious and educational goals of the university and its sponsoring denomination.
- Evidence of Christian commitment and active church involvement.
- Agree to live in agreement with PLNU’s Community Life Covenant.
- Successful completion of a background check.

- Past experience creating new curriculum at the graduate level in occupational therapy (for persons developing curriculum only)
Responsibilities
- Develop curriculum
- Secure fieldwork contracts
- Teach graduate courses
- Invest in students’ professional development
- Participate in Point Loma Nazarene University activities as appropriate
- Mentor students in research or professional experiences as appropriate
- Teach in the following areas: Anatomy, Neuroscience, Orthopedic upper extremity occupational therapy assessment and intervention, Modalities, Assistive technology including 3-D printing, Mental health conditions, assessment, and interventions, Pediatric health conditions, assessment, and interventions, Adolescent and young adults’ conditions, assessment, and interventions
- Serve as Level I fieldwork educators at community sites
- Supervise students during didactic class experience at community clinics
- Mentor and supervise students in small group, learning communities
- Assist full-time faculty in lab courses in multiple courses
Benefits
- Adjunct pay range: $5,013 - $6,684 for a 3-unit full semester appointment (actual salary determined by units).
